How To Create And Publish A Post On A Wordpress Blog
ByIn this tutorial I am going to show you how to create and post an article on a wordpress blog.
Wordpress is a Content Management System (CMS) which basically means it manages your content
A post in wordpress is the place where you publish content (articles, video, audio etc) on your blog they appear in reverse chronological order which means the latest post appears at the top.
Step One
To add a new post click Posts then click Add New

You will be taken to the add new post screen.
The first line is for the title of your post. Take some time and do some keyword research when creating the title, it is an important component when search engines index and rank the page. You need to have the main keyword/ keyword phrase you want the page to rank for, just make sure it is relevant to the content.
Step Two
Enter your content in the box below the title section. You will see some options that look similar to a word processor (e.g. Microsoft Word).
If you click the option at the end you will see more options appear underneath.

It should now look like this:

Step Three
You now have 3 ways you can add the text of your post.
1. Type the content directly into the box.
2. Copy and paste from a text file such as notepad (If you or a writer has prewritten the content.
3. Copy and paste from a word processor such as Microsoft word. The first two are straight forward but if you are copying and pasting from word you need to be careful as word has it’s own code and this can affect the way the article looks.
So if you are copying and pasting the text from Microsoft word do it like this:
Open your word document highlight and copy the text.
Next click the word icon:
![]()
A window will open for you to paste the text into. Paste your text from word into the window and click insert.
You will now need to format the text. However you are very limited to what you can do you cannot even change the font. If you want more options I suggest installing the Tinymce Advanced Plugin or something similar. Click the following link if you need help installing a wordpress plugin.
Have a play around to learn the different formatting options such as bold, italic and underlining text, adding an indent or bullet point.
Step Four
Add your post to a category.
If you haven’t already created some categories you can do so within the add new post section. You will find this option on the right of your screen (you may need to scroll down a little).
Click Add New Category, enter your category name then click add this will automatically add your post to that category.

To preview how your post will look click preview in the top right corner of your screen. This will open a preview of how your post will look in a new tab/ window.

If you are happy with the way your new wordpress post appears click the Publish button which you can see in the screenshot above (blue Publish button).
If you now view your blog you should see your new post.
Congratulations you have successfully published a post on your wordpress blog.
